Schools, childcare and family life in Dorval
Dorval has French and English public schools, daycares and an active library. Here are the entry points for enrolling your children and finding activities.
Two school systems
Depending on the language of instruction, families fall under the French-language school service centre or the English-language school board. Both systems have elementary schools in Dorval itself, which avoids long bus rides. Before enrolling a child, check the eligibility rules: they differ from one system to the other.
From elementary to CEGEP
In high school, many Dorval teens attend private or specialized public schools in neighbouring cities. The English-language CEGEP at the island's western tip is reachable by commuter train, a trip many students make daily. Open houses and application periods arrive quickly in the fall: watch the dates.
Early childhood and activities
Daycare spots are in high demand as everywhere in the Montreal region: start early. The municipal library offers courses and activities for children, a good way to make connections in the neighbourhood. The municipal day camp and youth programs round out the summer offering.
